Welcome to the Shimaya Ryokan, located in the Yudanaka Hot Spring Resort Village. Yudanaka is most famous for the local monkey population who have taken a fancy to bathing in hot spring water. Shimaya Ryokan provides a FREE Shuttle Service to Jigokudani. the Monkey Park where you can see monkeys in outdoor hot spring baths.

Our ryokan (Tradition Japanese Inn) is located in the center of Yudanaka and offers a wide range of options for travelers.

There is something to do in all seasons in Yudanaka. It is only a short bus ride to and from Shiga Kogen, one of the biggest ski resorts in Japan. During the green season, there are plenty of trails in the nearby mountains to hike around, while the autumn colors here are spectacular.

Guest Rooms
We have 12 guest rooms. 9 of them have baths and toilets. All rooms are Japanese-Style with Tatami mat floors. Guests sleep on futons that are laid out on the tatami mats. It is a great chance to try a traditional Japanese Room

Hot Spring
	Our inn also features a natural Japanese-Style Hot Spring. For centuries Japanese have savored the benefits of soaking in natural mineral baths. They are a great way to ease aches and pains, and almost guarantee you a good night's sleep. In addition to our main bathhouse we also have a private use hot spring, and there are several other public baths near the inn

Location

To get to Yudanaka from Nagano you need to take the Nagano Dentetsu Line. Please check the timetable in advance as the trains only run once every 2 hours or so. The express trains take about 40 minutes, while the local trains take 70 minutes ( and require a train change).

When you leave Yudanaka Station turn left. You will see a convenience store called Lawson. Follow the road beside Lawson and walk up about 300m along the road. You will see our hotel on your left hand side, just before the Haiku museum.
