The Hotel Shiga Aspen is one of the more affordable hotels in the Shiga Kogen Ski Resort, and is real ski in/ out accommodation. It is one of the smaller hotels in Shiga Kogen with a capacity if 70 guests.

It is located at the base of the Giant slopes, with 3 lifts within 25m of the hotel. The Giant Ski Resort is part of  the main resort of Shiga Kogen that stretches from Sun Valley across to Oku Shiga Kogen, a massive area that takes several days to explore. For those wanting to get to Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama, you can catch a lift up to Hasuike, and jump on the shuttle there (free if you have a lift pass).

The base of the Giant resort is a quiet area with about 5-6 hotels grouped together. There is a ski school office, medical center, lift ticket office right next to the hotel.

All reservations have breakfast included, but we suggest you order dinner also as there are not many restaurants within walking distance, and it gets mighty cold outside in winter. Dinner is a hearty affair, served in the dining room with plenty of volume. Many of the ingredients are locally grown.

Guest Rooms are Japanese Style, each with a private toilet, but guest use the lodges natural hot spring baths to bathe in. These are a fantastic way for relaxing after a day on the slopes.
